The Avert foundation is a nonprofit organization devoted to promoting healthy lifestyles and career development and eliminating disparities in low socioeconomic populations.  

Founded In 2009, this organizations' name is derived the word prevent.  Through charitable acts, research, and workshops our objective is to select several causes that go against our mission and formulate interventions that can be addressed through the foundation.

Our first campaign is to donate one hundred cooked turkeys to needy families in the Chicago metropolitan area on Thanksgiving morning.  Stony Garden, a retail supplier of fully cooked turkeys, will donate labor and facilities for food preparation.  Families will have an option of choosing a Cajun, Caribbean Jerk, or herb and garlic turkey.

The families receiving the turkeys will be identified with the assistance of 8^th ward alderman Michelle Harris and various church organizations.  With 100 turkeys, over 500 hundred people can be fed.  In this time of economic recession and job loss, this donation serves as a means to uplift spirits and look forward to better times.
